Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many fans into the NFL
This outcome could have created things up for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash next week, while our top performer is pursuing milestones as well as the MVP award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a consecutive games against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the team's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly Miami had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg laid by one of the NFL's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was crucial too, with Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their lowest of the year and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An interception in the scoring area resulting in a nine-minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just two plays
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the composed, disciplined, balanced Bills we've seen this year
Miami have served up a varied performances this year so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the New England, they're one of three 8-2 squads in the league, all AFC teams, but could they be the best?
One could pick holes in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their total 24 wins coming against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis beating the Broncos
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's win in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Buffalo appears to be a statement
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Mike Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven straight victories, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to get ready was significant
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely earns point for bravery after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to victory
The defensive unit is solid and rookie rusher Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - establishing himself as just the fifth runner to break 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
Although you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to end with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which includes just one game against a winning team, although a significant contest against Buffalo
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to face two times, the Chargers (who could also challenge for top seed but face the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the five and four Jaguars to contend with. There is a long way to travel but the door is available for a shock number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three eight and two teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who both put up 40 burgers to reach seven and two before next week's major game between the two in LA
Both have won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a game
Both could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a game-winning kick with the last kick blocked and returned by the Eagles for a score
Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly two of the best sides in the league
The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year to date
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
