Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he added.

Toronto's team claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
