Netflix Chooses Spot-On Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.

The platform declared this week that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and anime.

Escola joins multiple fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to life, such as leader the main antagonist, portrayed by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this signals a notable change in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the narrative framework.

Their mix of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
